The Experience

After photographing high school seniors & families for nearly two decades, I’ve developed a process to create memories and products that will make you smile for years to come. My process allows me to capture your personality and the things that are important to you. Here’s a breakdown of how we create personalized artwork for your home.

The Planning Meeting (1 hour)

From the moment we decide to work together, we are creating memories in the form of images you’ll be displaying for years. How will you display these photos around your home? We meet in my office to talk about your vision.

Maybe you want a gallery wall above the couch in your family room, or one large portrait to hang in your home’s entryway. Or, maybe you want an album or image box to display on a bookshelf or entryway table.

Need help deciding how you want to display your photos? When we meet I will share a variety of product samples, including:

  • Custom Wall Art
  • Heirloom Image Boxes
  • Signature Albums

This is also a great time for me to meet everyone who will be at or involved in the session. It’s really important to me that everyone involved feels as comfortable as if they were getting together with family.

During this meeting, we will also talk about the memories you want to make. I’ll guide you through a process that will help you decide on location and what to wear. Do you want to change outfits and locations? What’s the one unforgettable photograph we can’t leave without capturing?

"THE FINAL PRODUCTS WERE MAGICAL TO SAY THE LEAST. ALY CREATED FINE ARTWORK WE DISPLAY IN OUR HOUSE. HER USE OF LIGHTING AND SHADE REVEALED MY SON'S SOUL AND ARE FOREVER PRECIOUS."

- SHARON, ROYAL OAK MI

You’ll leave this meeting knowing that I understand exactly why this photo session is important to you, and the images you want to create together.

The Session (1-3 hours)

A photo session is a partnership between the photographer and people in front of her lens. Not only do you enjoy the session when you’re comfortable, but you also get a final product that you’re proud to hang in your home.

During our session, we’ll create space for authentic moments to happen. How do we do that?

Because we meet before the session, I already know

  • Where you want to display your photos in your home
  • All of your can’t-miss locations and moments
  • The clothing choices you’ve made and how they’ll complement the location

We’ll capture both posed and candid photos so that you get the images we need to create the artwork you want to display.

You don’t have to worry whether we “got the shot” during your session. We’ve done the prep work so you can use the session to make memories.

In addition, I have 20 years of experience working with families, kids, and young people. Over the years, I’ve learned how to make kids comfortable and I know when we need to take breaks.

"LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT ALY...WE ASKED HER TO PHOTOGRAPH OUR FABULOUS SENIOR IN THE SNOW, OUTSIDE, ON A DAY WITH THE WIND BLOWING AND A WINDCHILL OF BELOW ZERO.

ALY MADE HERSELF AVAILABLE ON A SATURDAY MORNING WITH A SMILE, LAUGH AND CHEERFUL MOOD. NOT ONLY DID SHE CAPTURE MY SON'S BEAUTIFUL SOUL BUT A GORGEOUS SNOWY DAY WITHOUT MAKING IT LOOK FREEZING, MISERABLE AND UNCOMFORTABLE."

- ANNA, BEVERLY HILLS MI

The Presentation & Ordering Meeting (2 hours)

Two weeks after your session, we will meet again in my office for your viewing and ordering meeting.

The presentation meeting is such an important part of the photography experience.

I used to upload the images, pop a link in an email, and hit send. I don’t do that anymore because my clients have told me that they never printed their images and the files are still sitting on their computer..

They want to see the story we talked about at our first meeting. They want to see the memories they made.

So, that’s what we do. I play a custom photo presentation and you’ll see all the images we talked about creating.

Enjoy the show. Don’t feel like you need to remember each image.

Many times when I screen this presentation, families get misty-eyed. They ask to watch it again.

After you’ve seen the highlights, we review the photos together and select the best of the best.

As part of your presentation, I also create digital mockups of wall art options displayed on your walls, so you can visualize your photos in your home, rather than relying on samples.

Once you’ve selected your photos, I place your order.

When your order arrives about 2 weeks later, I schedule a delivery time, and hand deliver your images to you. I also hang all wall art.

I’m in this business because I love creating memories, and building relationships. 70% of my clients work with me more than once.
